A LONG WEEKEND IN SANTA ROSA BEACH, FLORIDA

In May, I planned a quick get away Santa Rosa Beach, Florida (right on 30A). It’s just a seven-hour drive from Nashville, with plenty to do along the way! Such as stopping for ice cream at Peach Park, visiting the U.S. Space & Rocket Center all en route on 65 South. I grew up visiting the Destin, Fl area and have absolutely adored visiting 30A the last eight years, I truly fall more in love every time I visit! But this trip, I tried to focus on a small list for you all to enjoy if you only get to visit this magical place for a few days, rather than a whole vacation week! Below I am going to share some of the highlights from my trip, some of the to-do’s, and (duh!) all of the yummy places to eat!

WHERE TO STAY:

I worked with No Shoes Required VRBO for this trip and had the absolute best stay! It is centrally located in Gulf Place, which is on 30A in Santa Rosa Beach. Located across from the beach yet tucked away close to the restaurants and shops. Step off the back porch straight to a sparkling community pool!

A quick walk to the beach, to breakfast, even a spa!

The first floor of the unit features an updated kitchen, living area with a queen sleeper sofa, dining area, and access to the screened in patio (the perfect spot to unwind and people watch after a long day in the sun at the beach). There is also a half bath and washer/dryer on this level. Not to mention – BIKES! Perfect for exploring 30A.

The second floor includes a king master suite, including a balcony that overlooks the pool, and a master bath. The second room on this floor is a queen guest suite and a full bathroom with a tub/shower combo.

The third floor is a loft with two twin beds, the perfect spot for the kids or for friends to pile up in for a quick getaway weekend!

WHAT TO DO:

Gulf Place features shops, restaurants, Gulley Amphitheater, tennis, shuffle board, corn hole, three community pools, and community charcoal grills. Walking distance from the VRBO is Jade Nails, Ocean Elements Day Spa, and not far away is Rolland’s Salon (perfect for a blowout if you are doing date night!)

My top places to shop are unfortunately not walking distance but are 100% worth the short drive.

Tribe Kelley in Grayton beach is everything and then some! If you have followed me for a while, you know I wear their pieces almost daily! Made in the USA, custom cuts are available, and a travel/wrinkle proof!

Hemline in the SanDestin Grand Boulevard shopping center is to die for. From Lack of Colour hats to Show Me Your Mumu brand, they carry the best of the best!

Lastly, Ophelia swimwear! If you are looking for fun and flirty, and something different than you can find at home, this is your place! From swimmys to coverups, jean shorts and cute t-shirts, they have it all!

WHERE TO EAT AND DRINK: BREAKFAST

I could make a long long list for this section… so to keep it simple since this blog post is just about a little weekend getaway, I chose two places in Gulf Place that are walking distance, and 2 places they are a short drive. Just in case some of you all don’t mind taking a little drive for amazing food and coffee, but also for those of you who want to get the absolute MOST time with your toes in the sand!

First up is The Perfect PigIf you have ever been to 30A you know this is the place to go, and that the line is usually atrocious because everyone else is thinking the same thing you are. Brown. Sugar. Bacon. Yep, I said it. Brown. Sugar. Bacon. So if you are wanting a quick, but hardy breakfast, plan on coming here close to opening time so you can beat the breakfast crowd! They also serve lunch and dinner!!

Next is Sunrise Coffee Co. Again, a very very short walk from No Shoes Required VRBO, perfect to just grab a cup of coffee and a croissant. Easy to grab and keep walking towards the beach or you can sit on the patio and enjoy the morning runners going by!

Okay so stay with me… These next two places are a very short drive away and NEED to be on your list for visiting 30A!

Bad Ass Coffee. I mean with a name like that, wouldn’t you want to try it?? I love their Bad Ass Mocha with almond milk and their breakfast bagel. Another great spot to pop in and bring back to the VRBO or straight to the beach!

Saving the best for last… Black Bear Bread Co. I had seen this place on Instagram from all of my local girls in 30A and everything they ever posted about it looked so yummy and they were always saying the kindest things about those who work there! So, I had to give it a try! I had the granola and an iced coffee. But of course, had to bring a HUGE cinnamon roll to go with me for breakfast the next morning! Food was amazing, the people were so kind, and those waiting in line started becoming friends with one another. I love those type of places that just bring out the good in everyone, the patience, and the small talk that leads to connections.

WHERE TO EAT AND DRINK: LUNCH/DINNER

My absolute favorite place to eat every time I visit 30A just happens to be a 5-minute walk from No Shoes Required VRBO. With the best sweet tea chicken fingers, fries, and margaritas…. Shunk Gulley is a MUST! I could eat here every single day, for the rest of my life. And I am not exaggerating!!! The service is phenomenal, the food is always consistently great, and the view is unbelievable.

Pizza By The Sea is another great stop, still in the Gulf Place area, so a short walk from the VRBO. The perfect pizza to snag and take down to the beach, back to the house for dinner, or even a good break to watch sports on the patio while taking a break from the sun! My favorite pizza to order is the Queen Margherita or the kicking’ chicken yum bowls are a delish option also!! If you are trying to eat (somewhat) healthy, I recommend the cauliflower pizza crust! So so good.

Lastly, if you are looking to have a shopping day and want to eat lunch a little further from the VRBO, I would most definitely say go to Chiringo in Grayton Beach!! A ten minute drive for the absolute best fresh guacamole, BYOB (build your own bowl), and margarita on the rocks! Not to mention, there is the best area for corn hole games, spots to watch sports, and the cutest little fresh popsicle shop for everyone to enjoy!

ENJOY!
